I'm delighted to have been awarded this project grant!
The fund enables me to have art workshops for diverse groups of all ages, co -creating an archive from collective and modern memory of the fantastic legend and lore of Essex. Tall tales, mythic animals, ghosts, larger than life characters and epic journeys will be recorded in artworks on postcards or as voice recordings for an exhibition and travelling trove of our folklore!
I'm fascinated by the variety of folklore stories in the collective memory across our county. I have long been inspired to make artworks based on the legend and myth of Essex, and with 'Legendary Essex' the opportunity to connect with residents to hear and share their favourite stories new and old and facilitate their own art making is a dream come true!
