Legendary Essex Note: Essex has some wonderful tales including this scary tale from 1987 when  a 44 year old man called Bill Ramsey begged Southend Police to lock him up as he was turning into a werewolf. As a child he says he’d watch his hands turning into wolf paws, and he’d escape to the woods to roam with the wolves. As an adult Ramsey started attacking live people on all fours. He first went berserk on a co-worker but eventually took on several hospital workers before moving on to an entire police squadron.  After a spell in hospital, he went to America for an ‘exorcism’ in Connecticut that was filmed and was apparently successful.  The werewolf attacks were featured in The Sun newspaper. In a quote from ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren published investigation Bill Ramsey described hearing ”  the echoes of my own wolf growls; I felt again the peculiar, satisfying sensation of my teeth breaking the skin of the nurse’s fragile arm.” YIKES!
