Once upon a time in Debden Road in Saffron Walden, a family sat happy and cosy in their sitting room. Suddenly there was a rustle , a thump and …SPLAT! A humungous spider scuttled from the fireplace, across the floor and under the sofa. Much screaming and gesticulating ensued as the terrified family cowered behind their cushions. Despite many attempts to capture the huge hairy beast, it was never to be found again. Maybe it’s still scuttling on Debden Road… (PS. It was the size of my hand!).
